Our Mission
To provide compassionate, person-centered home care and behavioral health services that empower individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live with dignity, independence, and joy in their own communities.
How We Started
Open-Minded Developmental Home Care was born out of a deep frustration with a system that too often treated individuals with IDD as cases to be managed rather than people to be supported. Our founders — caregivers and advocates themselves — set out to build something different: an agency rooted in Eastern North Carolina, staffed by consistent faces, and guided by the belief that every person deserves a care team that truly knows them.
Today we serve individuals and families across more than 15 counties, offering everything from in-home personal care and community living supports to behavioral health therapy and life skills coaching. We are licensed by NC DHHS and approved for NC Medicaid, the Innovations Waiver, and Cap DA/C.

Sandra founded Open-Minded Developmental Home Care with a vision of compassionate, person-centered services for individuals with IDD across Eastern NC. She leads the agency with integrity and a deep commitment to the communities she serves.

Teresa supports program operations and ensures services are delivered with consistency and quality. She works closely with the executive team to coordinate care and maintain NC DHHS compliance.
